Format:
A fun and friendly 8 race handicap short track XC series for riders of varied age, fitness and skill.
Races will be approximately 30 minutes in duration.
A single lap is 1.8km long and is primarily flat single track with a small amount of climbing. It is a tight loop with many easily accessible spectator vantage points for mums and dads to take advantage of.
Grading:
Riders are graded in relation to ability and handicapped accordingly to give riders of all levels and abilities an equal chance of victory on the day.
The handicapper reserves the right to adjust the grading over the course of the series in an effort to provide close competitive racing.
Please note that while we encourage young children to get involved, dirt crits aren’t suitable for children under the age of 7 or for children who are only confident on a bike fitted with stabilizers.
Series Points:
Each rider will be awarded points at the end of each race.
The points allocated will depend on the riders placing and the number of competitors in the event. Basically riders are awarded a point for their own placing and a point for every rider they finish ahead of. A DNF is worth 1 point.
Only a riders best 6 out of 8 results count towards the series prize so each rider can afford to DNF or miss 2 races out of the 8 and still be in the running for the series prize.
The handicapper reserves the right to adjust a riders points to correct an overly harsh or advantageous handicap.
The Series Winner:
The series winner will be the rider who has the highest accumulated series points from a maximum of 6 races.
Prizes:
There will be modest prizes awarded to the winner of each crit and a pretty decent series prize.
Race Cancellation and Bulletins:
Races will be canceled on days of extreme fire danger or in the event of other extreme weather conditions.
Such cancellations will be posted on the Castlemaine Rocky Riders facebook page by 4pm on the day of the race.
Race results and series points standings will be updated on the Castlemaine Rocky Riders web site and the facebook page.
