Castlemaine Rocky Riders Mountain Bike Club

The Central Victorian Rocky Riders Mountain Bike Club is a not-for-profit organisation catering for the mountain bike rider who enjoys riding socially with others on a wide variety of trails in a relaxed enjoyable atmosphere. The club holds regular social rides, as well as hosting state level MTB events through the year, still with a major emphasis on fun. The club actively promotes trail development and access through Central Victoria and there are endless locations to ride. Please visit our trails section for some ride ideas.

The Rocky Riders are affiliated with Mountain Bike Australia (MTBA).  MTBA is the governing body for mountain biking throughout Australia, which is run by mountain bikers for mountain bikers. MTBA is committed to the administration, promotion and development of mountain biking throughout Australia.

The cover provided for 2010  is similar to that enjoyed by our members last year with one important addition. The ‘training’ aspects of the personal accident cover have been removed and this insurance cover is now 24/7 just like Public Liability is. Members are now protected by personal accident cover when ever they ride their bike.  What does this mean? It means that if a member is injured during a solo ride, a ride with some mates or at any other time not associated with a formal club activity the member has personal accident cover. The member no longer has to try and prove a linkage to ‘training’.

In our opinion this is a very significant step forward. The extent of cover for accidents that happen when riding outside any formal and sanctioned club activity is, however, halved.

Through MTBA, the Rocky Riders offer the following Membership Types:

Competition: Includes Club Membership and an MTBA competition license which provides insurance cover for all MTBA sanctioned competitive events. Avoids the need to purchase a $15 day license at competitions.

Social: Includes Club Membership and an MTBA social license which provides insurance cover for all club social events. Avoids the need to purchase a $5 participation license at club events.

Cycling Australia Upgrade: Includes Club Membership and a discounted MTBA competition license for CA members, which provides insurance cover for all MTBA sanctioned competitive events. Avoids the need to purchase a $15 day license at competitions
